Mechanical Engineering Department of Sriram Engineering College started functioning from the year1993 with a sanctioned intake of 60 students per annum. The focus of the department is to offer quality education in the specialized fields of Design, Manufacturing, Thermal and Materials engineering. The might of the Department, apart from its Students, is its Qualified and Experienced Faculty/Staff. It has so for graduated more number of mechanical engineers who are contributing significantly to the development and running of various public and private organizations in India and abroad in the fields of, Industrial, Research, Academics, and Social sector.

PEOs are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing its graduates to accomplish. PEO reflect the career and professional accomplishments of graduates during the first several years after graduation.
A student counseling committee has been formed in order to understand the grievances of the students of both academic and personal issues. Each faculty, counsel 15 students. The academic performances, behavior and regularity of the student to the classes are monitored closely, based on which students are counseled. Further the matter will be reported to centralized student welfare wing committee.
The Department maintains a library to meet the specific needs of its students. There are several Volumes, titles, Journals and CDS available to students throughout the academic year.
Department library meets students curriculum requirement which are available in the form of Books, E-books, journals and CDS.
To be a renowned school of Mechanical Engineering that is recognized for its high quality education, research, and outreach programs.
National Level Technical Symposia – A Grand
Success!
Sriram Engineering College, Perumalpattu, Chennai, successfully
organized the National Level Technical Symposia on 27th February
2026 at the College Main Auditorium with enthusiastic
participation from students across thiruvallur district.
The symposium featured four major departments —
Techxaura-2K26
Sparkzz-2K26
Attune-2K26
Mechatron-2K26
covering disciplines such as CSE, AI & DS, AI & ML, Cyber
Security, CSBS, ECE, EEE and Mechanical Engineering.
The inaugural session was graced by Mr. Prem Anand, Director –
Xtractul, as the Chief Guest, who inspired students with his
address on emerging technologies, innovation, and industry
readiness.
Our Chairman Dr. R. Narayanasamy and Principal Dr. B. R. Ramesh
Bapu highlighted the importance of technical symposiums in
nurturing practical knowledge, leadership skills, and creative
thinking.
With participation from students across Tamil Nadu, more than
600 students showcased their talents and technical
expertise.
Congratulations to all organizers, faculty members, student
coordinators, and participants for making this event a
remarkable success!

Mr. S. Chandru as the guest
speaker.
During the session, students actively participated and gained
valuable knowledge about career
opportunities in the mechanical engineering field. The guest
speaker shared useful information on
career growth, skill development, industry expectations, and
guidance on securing high-salaried
jobs in mechanical engineering. The session was highly
informative and beneficial for all the

The School of Mechanical Engineering at Sriram Engineering
College conducted its Association Inauguration and a Guest
Lecture on 10th October 2025 at the Metrology Laboratory,
marking the beginning of a new academic year of professional
activities and technical enrichment.
Mr. Singaravel shared valuable insights into the advanced
engineering behind piston engine power packs used in battle tank
systems, offering students a rare glimpse into defense-grade
mechanical systems and real-world applications of internal
combustion engine technology. The lecture covered technical
design, performance parameters, material selection, and
operational challenges associated with tank engines.
The session was highly informative and engaging, sparking
enthusiasm and curiosity among students, and encouraging them to
explore career paths in core mechanical and defense engineering
sectors. The event marked a strong beginning to the Mechanical
Engineering Association yearly activities and was well-received
by students and faculty alike.

Seminar on “Design Training Program using SolidWorks,
Creo & CATIA Software” conducted on 04.04.2025 by Guest
Speaker Mr. S. Hari Krishnan from CADD Tech
Solutions
A seminar on “Design Training Program using SolidWorks, Creo &
CATIA Software” was conducted on 04.04.2025 at Sriram
Engineering College for the benefit of students interested in
CAD/CAM and product design technologies. The session aimed to
provide practical knowledge and industry exposure in modern
mechanical design software widely used in engineering
industries.
The seminar was delivered by Mr. S. Hari Krishnan, representing
CADD Tech Solutions. During the session, the speaker explained
the importance of computer-aided design tools in product
development, manufacturing, and industrial applications.
The resource person introduced the features and applications of
SolidWorks, Creo, and CATIA. Students were given an overview of
3D modeling, assembly design, drafting, simulation, and
industrial design workflows. The speaker also highlighted career
opportunities available for students skilled in these software
tools.
The seminar was highly interactive and informative. Students
actively participated in the discussion and clarified their
doubts regarding software training, certification, and
industrial requirements. The session enhanced students’
awareness of current trends in design engineering and motivated
them to improve their technical competencies.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks expressing gratitude
to the guest speaker for sharing valuable insights and practical
knowledge with the students.
Technical Summer Camp and Seminar on “Applied Mechanical
Engineering in Aeronautical Sciences” on
03.04.2025.
A Technical Summer Camp was conducted on 03.04.2025 at Sriram
Engineering College with the objective of enhancing students
technical knowledge and practical exposure in the fields of
mechanical and aeronautical engineering. The camp was specially
organized for Plus Two students who had completed their board
examinations, encouraging them to gain awareness and deeper
understanding of the Mechanical Engineering discipline.
As part of the summer camp, a seminar on the topic “Applied
Mechanical Engineering in Aeronautical Sciences” was organized.
The seminar highlighted the application of mechanical
engineering principles in aeronautical sciences, including
aircraft systems, aerospace manufacturing technologies,
propulsion systems, and recent advancements in the aviation and
aerospace industries.
The seminar was delivered by Dr. B. R. Ramesh Bapu, Principal of
Sriram Engineering College, and Mr. S. Parisutha Azhagan. The
speakers shared valuable insights into aeronautical sciences,
industrial applications, and the importance of interdisciplinary
engineering knowledge in modern technology-driven
industries.
During the session, students gained knowledge about aircraft
structures, propulsion systems, aerospace materials, and the
practical applications of mechanical engineering concepts in the
aviation sector. The speakers also motivated students to explore
career opportunities and pursue higher education in the fields
of aeronautical and mechanical engineering.

The Guest Lectures was conducted in Mechanical Engineering Department of Sriram Engineering College on 19.2.2018. The program started at 10.30 A.M with inauguration. The Resource person for the session was Dr. Mohandas, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, SVCE, Sriperumbadur. The topic was Advances in Materials and Metallurgy. Basics of Material science, Need for Solid solutions and Applications of Iron-Carbon Diagram were discussed. The target audience for the session was II year Mechanical Engineering students. The overall feedback of the session was very good.
The inauguration of the National Level Conference in Emerging Trends in Mechanical Engineering is formally done by the Chief Guest Mr.Shankar G Subburathinam, Division Head, Advanced Materials Technology, Caterpillar India Pvt Ltd., on 27.09.2017 at Sri Ram Engineering College. Dr .S. Ravi, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering Welcomed the gathering. Mrs.G.Suganya took the privilege to introduce the Chief Guest. Dr.G. Gopalakrishnan , Director honoured the Chief Guest. Dr .S. R. Kannan, Principal insisted the importance of attending Symposia. The Guest speaker detailed his speech on the employability skills required for a candidate to compete globally. The objective of Mechanical Engineers Association is to nurture the talents of the students in both academic and non academic matters. The association organizes different types of extra curricular activities and co-curricular activities like Paper Presentation, seminars, invited talks by the people from industry and academic institutions.
The Department Association organizes National Level Technical Symposium every year besides organizing Guest Lectures, Industrial Visits. Seminars In Plant Training and Educational Tours are listed.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has successfully conducted 2nd National level conference on Advances in mechanical Engineering (AME-2017) on 15.03.2017 at Sriram engineering college Auditorium.
The Chief guest Dr. A. Rajadurai, Dean, Madras Institute of Technology, Anna University, Chennai address the gathering about the importance of the Research and innovations and also about the recent developments in Materials and Cutting tool technology.
Welcome address is given by Dr. S. Ravi, Professor and Head, Mechanical Engineering also briefed about the purpose of organizing the 2nd National level conference and welcomed all the dignitaries.
The Director Dr.G.Gopalakrishnan addresses the gathering about the recent findings and developments in Mechanical Engineering and importance of Research and innovations to the young minds, Researchers, academician and Practioner of Mechanical engineering.
