The Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit of Sriram Engineering College organized a "Mental Health Awareness Program" on 13th October 2025, in observance of World Mental Health Day. The event was conducted exclusively for first-year students and faculty members, with the objective of promoting mental well-being, reducing stigma around mental health issues, and fostering emotional resilience within the academic community.
The session was graced by Dr. T. Ajay, a renowned psychiatrist, who shared expert insights on identifying early signs of mental health challenges such as stress, anxiety, and depression. He emphasized the importance of timely intervention, emotional self-care, and destigmatizing mental health conversations.
Participants were engaged through interactive activities, open discussions, and a dedicated Q&A session. These components encouraged both students and faculty to openly express their concerns, share experiences, and adopt practical strategies for managing emotional well-being.
The event was well-received and appreciated by all attendees, marking a significant step toward building a more supportive and mentally healthy campus environment.
