NSS ACTIVITIES FROM JANUARY JUNE 2019

Cleanliness awareness programme was conducted for Mentally challenged persons at Mentally challengers home Balavihar veppampattu on 27.3.2019

The Youth Red Cross (YRC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Sriram Engineering College jointly conducted a blood donation camp at their Campus on 13.02.2018, in association with Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, Chennai.
The Director (Academics) and Principal, inaugurated the camp by 10.00 a.m. A total of 125 donors had donated their blood during the camp.

Blood Donation Camp

• We have conducted the Blood Donation Camp on 28.02.2017 (Tuesday) at 10.00 am, in the Main block. It was inaugurated by our college Principal and other HOD’s.
• We have successfully organized donating blood by the team of Doctors and Nurses who took care of the students well while donating blood without any issues for the General Hospital, Chennai-2. Mr. Rajkumar, Blood Bank in-charge collected 121units of blood successfully.

• We have organized a day’s programme on “One-day Disaster Management” in our college on 23-02-2017(Thursday). Members from IRCS gave the seminar on disaster and demonstrated a live programme on fire safety. Mr K. Lawrence, IRCS, co-ordinator spoke on natural disaster and Dr. A. Sugandan spoke about all first and immediate measure of all accident and emergency situations .They both demonstrated about a live CPR Techniques for heart patients and they also allowed students to participate in that activity for the morning session.
• In the afternoon session, they gave a seminar about fire and they classification and also give the types of fire extinguisher and also given a live demo of how to control all types of fire accidents with extinguishers and other techniques by cutting the supply of oxygen and reduce the heat of the atmosphere.
• In this programme, we could gain rich and valuable experience for the students and staff.

• Campus cleaning activity was conducted in our college campus on 26.11.2013 by our NSS Unit.
• National Votres Day awareness pledge was taken by our staff and students on 24^th Jan 2014.
• Right to Information (RTI) Act Awareness programme was conducted by our NSS Unit on 25.02.2014.
• NSS Special Camp programme was conducted from 17^th Feb to 25^th Feb 2014. During this camp Eye screening camp was organized on 17 & 18^th Feb by Vishnu Eye Hospital Chennai. In this camp around 2000 students and 200 staff got beneficial.
• The premises of Lord Shiva Temple was cleaned by the volunteers on 20^th Feb 2014.
• On 22^nd Feb 2014 we conducted Sports Day at District level for the Mentally challenged students jointly with Anbalaya Self Help Group.
• On 23^rd Feb, we organised Polio Immunization Drops Programme n 19^th at Veppampattu railway station.

• Campus cleaning and Tree plantation were conducted in our college campus on 4.8.2012 Independence Day was celebrated by our NSS Unit.
• NSS Day was celebrated at Anna University campus on 24th September 2012,Our volunteers won the first prize in Miming Show.
• World Aids Day Awareness programme was held in our college on 1^th Dec 2012.
• Samuthava Pongal was celebrated by NSS unit on 11^th Jan 2013.
• National Votres Day awareness pledge was taken by our staff and students.
• Drug addict awareness programme was conducted on 29^th Jan 2013.
• NSS Special Camp- 2013 was conducted from 19^th Feb to 25th Feb 2013.
• Womens Day was celebrated on 8^th March 2013 in our Auditorium

• • SAMATHUVA PONGAL VIZHA was celebrated by our NSS Unit on 13.01.2012.
  • A special camp was conducted by our NSS Unit from 11.02.2012 to 17.02.2012. In this camp our NSS volunteers took up 200 metres of road formation to our school premises and organized various cleaning programmes in and around the temples and school of Perumalpattu village.
  • Our NSS unit conducted a cleanliness awareness programme for school students at Govt.Middle School Perumalpattu village on 15^th and 17^th February 2012.
  • Our NSS unit held a service camp for Balavihar mentally challenged home at Veppampattu village on 16th and 17^th February 2012.
  • Our NSS volunteers organized a polio immunization programme on 19^th February 2012 at Veppampattu railway station.

• • • A mega blood donation camp was conducted by our NSS & Rotaract Club
      on 30th July 2010. Around 550 donors have donated blood.
    • Our NSS volunteers have participated in Chennai Marathon-2010
      on 29 th August 2010 and won second prize Rs.10,000 /- cash.
    • An eye screening and awareness programme was conducted on 13, 14 and 15 th
      September 2010 by our NSS unit. Around 1000 people were benefited.
    • On 1 st December 2010, World Aids Day programme was conducted by
      NSS cell Anna University at SSN college. Our NSS volunteers participated and won 3 first prizes and one second prize under various categories.
    • On 1 st January 2011, our NSS volunteers participated in a Green Rally at
      Marina beach organized by ISHA Foundations Chennai.
    • Our NSS unit and Automobile department together have conducted a Road Safety
      Awareness week from 01.01.2011 to 07.01 2011. A Road Safety Awareness rally was conducted at Tiruvallur inaugurated by Mrs. Vanitha, IPS, SP of Tiruvallur.
    • A shield was awarded by Madras Blood Bank on 7 th August 2010 for
      mobilizing more than 500 donors.
    • NSS special camp was conducted by our college in Perumalpattu village
      from 22.02.11 to 28.02.11.around 100 volunteers of two units of our college participated in this camp.
